La posada de Ojébar is a 1850 typical mountain house located in Ojébar ( Rasines- Cantabria), a village right in the Valley of Ason. It is conveniently located 50 minutes drive from the centre of Bilbao, 40 minutes from Santander and 20 minutes from Laredo beach.

Situated in east Cantabria, it’s a suitable area for whose seeking to unwind and connect with Nature while also offering culture and entertainment for all tastes.

The Valley of Ason is renown for its limestone massifs  and extraordinary caves. It’s distinguished as the area of Europe with the highest number of caves per square metre. In fact, the longest cave in Europe is there.

Moreover, during hiking trips the most famous trees in western Cantabria such as beech, oak, holm oak can be appreciated thus combining the mountainous landscape with green meadows.

What to visit

The Aston River in Ria de Las Limpias Estuary located in Alto Ason, between the sea and the mountains, mount Buciero in Santoña, Cantabrian  Sea, Colindres and La Bien Aparecida ( the patron of Cantabria) Shrine can all be visited from Ojébar.

Other extraordinary sites such as Ermita de las Nieves o los Collados de Asón can also be visited in the area.

Surrounded by meadows and oak trees, valleys and plains, the area is perfect for hiking, bike or quad trips. We especially recommend Picon del Carlista route in which you can admire some spectacular views.

El Alto Ason valley is rich inc aves such as Valle Cave in Rasines, Conventosa Cave and Internationally renown Covalanas caves in Ramales de la Victoria.

If you wish to do something different than that, it’s a 20-minutes drive to the fantastic beach in Laredo and 25-minutes to Cabárceno Nature Park.
